Los Angeles based director Phillip Lopez spent most of his life wanting to be a doctor, but after a serious illness threw his entire universe out of whack, he realized that he’d rather affect peoples’ lives than simply prolong them. Nostalgic for his love of watching films with his mother growing up and making skateboard films at a young age, he swapped his biochem books for film theory books and thus began his journey as a director and photographer. He got his first break working alongside photographer Davis Factor, who gave him the opportunity to direct short films with talent like Robert Downey Jr. and Jane Fonda. The rest, as they say, is history.

A diverse visual storyteller with influences ranging from documentary film to iconic editorial fashion imagery, Lopez delights in challenging himself and the viewer to look at things from a new perspective. While he often injects a sense of whimsy and playfulness into his visuals, they are always grounded in real, tangible beauty and human emotion. His genre-blurring commercial work includes brands like Heineken, Penn State, Pac Sun, Gucci, Balenciaga and Kodak and his work for artists like Selena Gomez, Kygo, Liam Payne, Avicii and Pussy Riot have made him highly sought after in the music video world.
